Liverpool snatch stunning draw against Manchester City
Trent Alexander-Arnold fires late equaliser at Etihad Stadium
Englands best two sides play out thrilling encounter
Trent Alexander-Arnold scored a stunning equaliser as Liverpool snatched a 1-1 draw away to Manchester City in a thrilling Premier League encounter at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The Reds, who had fallen behind to a Joao Cancelo goal in the first half, looked to be heading for a defeat that would have seen them fall further behind their rivals in the title race.
But Alexander-Arnold's brilliant strike with just six minutes remaining earned Liverpool a share of the spoils and ensured that the gap between the two sides at the top of the table remains at four points.
The match was a tale of two halves, with City dominant in the first period and Liverpool much improved after the break.
City took the lead in the 28th minute when Cancelo fired home from close range after a fine cross from Kevin De Bruyne.
Liverpool had chances of their own, with Mohamed Salah hitting the post and Sadio Mane seeing a shot saved by Ederson.
But it was City who looked the more likely to add to their lead, with De Bruyne pulling the strings in midfield and Riyad Mahrez causing problems down the right flank.
However, Liverpool came out with renewed purpose after the break and were rewarded for their efforts when Alexander-Arnold curled home a superb equaliser.
The goal sparked a frantic finale, with both sides pushing for a winner.
But it was Liverpool who came closest to snatching all three points, with Salah seeing a shot saved by Ederson in the dying minutes.
The draw leaves Liverpool four points behind City at the top of the table, but Jurgen Klopp's side will be buoyed by their performance in the second half.
